The Heirloom Necklace
I was inspired to create this piece by the thought of an abandoned little Florida house somewhere deep in the swamp; cicadas singing, sun setting slowly, family heirlooms inside still intact, besides some mildew.
This lovely handmade chain features Kambaba jasper & ceramic starburst beads, faux pearls, a golden antler displaying teeny crescent moons, paired with a stunningly intricate 70-year-old pendant. This pendant was salvaged from an older necklace with a not-so-great chain. It was a pleasure to breathe new life into this unique piece.
The chain is about 14” long, with an added 3” of adjustable chain (17” total) and lobster claw closure. This piece is fairly sturdy due to the gauge of wire used, but as always, please handle with love, especially the vintage elements. :)
Kambaba Jasper is actually not Jasper, but a volcanic rock. It has a lovely mottled, swampy-green and black color. Often known for its grounding properties, connecting us to the earth and providing healing and emotional balance.
